What disability and sickness benefits can I claim?
If a disease or handicap prevents you from working or forces you to work fewer hours, there is financial assistance available. Your employer may be able to reimburse you for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). You may be eligible to get additional benefits like Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), or even if this has run out if you are unable to claim it.
Appointing someone to deal with your sickness and disability benefit claim for you
An individual or group can handle benefit management on your behalf if you are unable to do it yourself.
We refer to this as appointeeing someone. Your Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits are now in their control.
You can ask non-profit organisations to act as your advocate and appointee and assist you with your benefits if you have a learning disability.
